    OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL OF G-FFF2 & G-FFF2-FP TYPE FREEFALL LIFEBOATS For operating and maintaning of GEPA G-FFF2 & G-FFF2-FP type Freefall Lifeboats this operation and maintenance manual should be followed carefully. All persons should study this manual at lifeboat drills, to be throughly conversant with the system.    1. Importance of Studying the Manual Especially in emergency conditions it is very important for the occupants to know how to handle the lifeboat. For a quick and safe launching in an emergency condition, all occupants must be familiar with the system.  All occupants should study carefully the information given in this manual. Before starting the engine read the instruction manual of the engine and the plastic foils fastened inside of the helmsman dome. 2. Information about the Lifeboat and Stowage Plan The construction is G.R.P material using self extinguishing resin. The form is round bottom Hull with aft tunnel, transom stern and a rescue deck at aft near to the sea level. Hull and canopy are bolted with stainless steel bolts and fastening is made watertight by means of marine sealant. The roof of the canopy is especially formed for collecting of rainwater. The self-righting designed boat provides good inherent stability. The buoyancy tanks are filled with polyurethane foam and have enough capacity to float the boat in damaged conditions. The buoyancy tanks which are under the roof of the canopy makes the boat self-righting even when partially flooded. All controls are effected by the helmsman dome which has an excellent all-around visibility.    The lifeboat is designed for max. 20 persons on board. Fire Protected Lifeboat is designed for max. 19 persons on board. Designed hight of launching is 14.00 meters. Designed angle of launching ramp is 35° degrees.   All fittings and mounting hardware are made of corrosion resistant materials. Mostly marine grade stainless steel is used. The usage of marine plywood or timber is reduced to a minimum level. Engine, water spray pump(Fire Protected Lifeboat), fuel tank, fresh water containers locker and batteries are located under the floor of the center aisle. Seats are facing the aft end of the lifeboat. Only persons sitting in the helmsman dome are facing forward. Non-skid surfaces are provided on the center aisle floor and on the rescue deck. The engine is a water cooled “keel cooling” diesel engine, gives 6 knot speed to the Lifeboat. The external hull and the canopy are orange and the internal surface is light green colored.
