History of urkish ranslation in Japan and Its Problems Tis book is the second volume o the world’s first academic books about urkish ↔ Japanese translation which represent a genuine effort to contribute to this field since they address the subject matter in a large scope considering the diverse academic perspectives. While the first volume gathered discussions on translation studies with theoric and applied aspects, literature, linguistics, and philosophy, this second volume deals with the history o translation, philosophy, language education, and law. It also covers the translation o historical materials and divan poetry. We both editors the urkologist Ryō Miyashita and the Japanologist Esin Esen, besides being academicians and translators in this field, are dedicated different aspects o translation activities including university level translation education. Miyashita is the translator o many urkish novels o nobel-prize-winning novelist Orhan Pamuk and other modern authors. He also makes translations rom urkish Ottoman. Esen, made first direct translation rom Heian period Japanese and also translates Man’yōshū poems rom Old Japanese. Being this engaged in translation activities, the editing process has been a great enthusiasm and vigor or us. We learned a lot with each article we have edited. We realized again and again how wide is the field and there are endless topics one can dedicate whole lie to. We eel that, all contributors o these books are shaping our field together, like paving small stones to the tower o Babel. Being a part o this is a great honor.  Tis Volume Ryō Miyashita, Esin Esen   History o urkish ranslation in Japan and Its ProblemsTe editors o the book deal with the urkology and translation in Japan, drawing a background on the Japanese translation history rom urkish and give an account o translators. Ten they ocus on the urkish education in Japan, reporting its present day problems.
