PROBLEM STATEMENT 1 Embedded in the use of tacit knowing, practical intelligence and reflection, is the abstract, yet very real and valuable process of intuition. It is how many of us turn seemingly inconclusive pieces of information and isolated feelings into integrated holistic understanding and action. According to Schon (1983), intuition is  part of what enables us to practice in the “swamp”, especially when dealing with novel, challenging or ambiguous circumstances in  practice. As a complex and multi-dimensional human capacity, intuition appears to both contribute to, and be differentiated from other forms of consciousness. Yet, little is actually known about the ways in which this phenomenon may contribute to how we come to know and thereby practice. Therefore, this study sought to understand the nature and scope of intuition in the reflective practice of adult educators from the perspective of those practitioners PROBLEM STATEMENT 2 Math anxiety is a common that disadvantages adults in school, work, and home settings. As educators and researchers have learned more about the nature, causes, effects and treatments of math anxiety, they begun to realise that math anxiety is an important and complex issue. Although math anxiety has been well-studied, additional work needs to be done, especially in the area of understanding how adults are able to overcome math anxiety, to date there is no research detailed the process involved. To better understand how math anxiety can be reversed, we need to hear from adults who have been able to successfully overcome it. The answers about “reversing” math anxiety can be found by listening to those who were math anxious but now feel more comfortable with mathematics.  PROBLEM STATEMENT 1 Embedded in the use of tacit knowing, practical intelligence and reflection, is the abstract, yet very real and valuable process of intuition.
