  PRODUCT DATA SHEET Sika® CarboDur® S PULTRUDED CARBON FIBRE PLATES FOR STRUCTURAL STRENGTHENING AS PART OF THE SIKA®CARBODUR® SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Sika® CarboDur® plates are pultruded carbon fibre re-inforced polymer (CFRP) laminates, designed forstrengthening concrete, timber, masonry, steel andfibre reinforced polymer structures.Sika® CarboDur® plates are bonded onto the structureas externally bonded reinforcement using Sikadur®-30epoxy resin based adhesive for normal, or Sikadur®-30 LP epoxy resin based adhesive for elevated temper-atures during application and / or service.Please refer to the relevant Product Data Sheet formore detailed information about each of these adhes-ives. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS SUBSTRATE QUALITYSika® CarboDur® plates externally bonded to the con-crete surface Recommended minimum concrete pull-off strengthafter surface preparation:Mean: 2.0 N/mm 2 ▪Minimum: 1.5 N/mm 2 ▪The effective concrete pull-off strength after surfacepreparation has to be verified.If concrete pull-off strength is below the stated minim-um requirements, alternative Sika solutions are avail-able:CarboDur® applied in slots as near surface mounted(NSM) reinforcement▪SikaWrap® fabrics: Please refer to the Product DataSheet for the SikaWrap® fabrics▪Concrete must generally be older than 28 days (de-pendent on curing conditions and the type of con-crete etc.)  Sika® CarboDur® externally bonded to other sub-strates For application of CarboDur® plates to all other sub-strates (brick, stone, steel, wood, fibre reinforced poly-mer etc.) please refer to the “Method Statement forSika® CarboDur® Externally Bonded Reinforcement”Ref: 850 41 05. SUBSTRATE PREPARATION Concrete must be cleaned and prepared to achieve alaitance and contaminant free, open textured surface.Please also refer to the “Method Statement Sika® Car-boDur® Externally Bonded Reinforcement” Ref: 850 4105. APPLICATION METHOD / TOOLS Please refer to the relevant Product Data Sheet:Sikadur®-30▪Sikadur®-30 LP▪ LIMITATIONS Please refer to the relevant Product Data Sheet of Sikadur® epoxy adhesive:Sikadur®-30▪Sikadur®-30 LP▪ A suitably qualified Structural Engineer must be re-sponsible for the design of the strengthening works.Additionally as this application is structural, greatcare must also be taken in selecting suitably experi-enced and trained specialist contractors. Sika® CarboDur® strengthening systems with Sika®CarboDur® plates must be protected from permanentexposure to direct sunlight, moisture and/or water.Please refer to the relevant Method Statement andProduct Data Sheets for the selection of suitable overcoating materials, in situations where systems will befully or partially exposed.Maximum permissible continuous service temperat-ure is approx. +50 °C.Note: When using the Sika CarboHeater for curingSikadur®-30 LP to be used at elevated temperatures,the maximum continuous service temperature can beincreased to max. +80 °C.
